VRPIS — enterprise platform for an aluminium plant

A configurable enterprise platform used by more than fifty staff, covering melt planning and alloy calculation, procurement and sales, warehouse and weighing, transport, accounting, document approval and statutory reporting — integrated with the plant’s scales, production systems and accounting software.

In daily use since 2017, with role-based access, document circulation and approval, release control and an audit trail. Artabel is lead developer and system integrator.

Molten-metal level measurement and real-time vehicle tracking

Two connected pieces of instrumentation. The first is an optical device that automates molten-metal level measurement in extreme conditions, delivered in both a handheld and a robotic-arm version, with readings written directly into the information system.

The second is a smart vehicle beacon for real-time factory monitoring: position and speed tracking, alerting in restricted areas and dangerous situations, and data capture that feeds analytics and process optimisation.

Lifetime prediction for electrical parts from fifty-plus sensor streams

Lifetime monitoring of power-electronic components: aggregation of data from more than fifty sensors into analysis of performance trends and failure patterns, then AI-driven lifetime prediction supporting predictive maintenance. A time-series problem in which both false alarms and missed failures carry a real cost.

LARA — laboratory risk-assessment software

Artabel converted a laboratory risk-assessment methodology, developed with EPFL’s chemical-safety and occupational-safety specialists, into a web portal for data capture and risk calculation, with corrective-measure assessment and generated reports.

The rules are defined by safety specialists and encoded so that a safety officer can inspect and justify every step of an assessment. Contract research and software delivery from 2015.

Archive digitisation, search and analytics

Digitisation of an eight-year document archive, then AI-driven classification and search on top of it, AI-powered information extraction and analytics, corporate knowledge management, task management, a financial dashboard covering both the property and securities portfolio, and internet reputation and competition monitoring.

The current core: ingestion, retrieval, grounded answers, human review

Artabel’s continuing development line, combining document ingestion, OCR and metadata extraction with semantic search, source-grounded retrieval-augmented generation and AI-assisted analysis under human review.

This is the engine behind our work on heterogeneous archives: metadata assistance, traceable retrieval, connectors to repositories with no common interface, and services that a small organisation can maintain. Client identities and commercial terms are confidential.

Real-time combustion-efficiency measurement

Measurement hardware and software that monitor how efficiently process gas is burned, in real time, so that waste gases are eliminated more cleanly.

Decision support for weather-sensitive farm operations

A web service that turns weather forecasts, field and crop records, treatment constraints and a farm’s own procedures into daily recommendations, each showing the reasoning behind it for the manager to accept or reject. Piloted with a specialty-crop producer in France.

A five-wall 3D CAVE for forestry teaching

A turnkey, fully immersive five-wall projection room, driven by a computer cluster and synchronised projectors, used for teaching and practical training in forestry management.

Training for client engineering teams

Tailored programmes in AI, machine learning and deep learning, advanced information systems, 3D modelling and virtual reality, and smart devices and IoT — combining theoretical foundations and technology usage with hands-on exercises on the team’s own real-world projects.
